Wine estate in the Var, 5 centuries of history

In the beginning, the Observant monks

There are lands where life takes root with singular intensity, as if the landscape itself wanted to span the centuries. As early as the 17th century, the hillsides of La Font des Pères intrigued: a vibrant site, alive with a rare energy. The Observant monks discovered a natural spring there, precious and abundant.

From this water and their patient labor, the first vines in the area were born. The place then received a meaningful name: “La Font” (the spring in Provençal) “des Pères” (of the Fathers), in tribute to the monks who shaped these lands.

Jean Luc CODDACIONI, for the love of wine

From then on, the history of the estate merges with that of wine. In the 18th century, agricultural innovations profoundly transformed the landscape: the restanques appeared, those dry-stone terraces that follow the topography and structure the hillsides.

Local tradition has it that this titanic work involved, alongside the farmers, men from the Toulon penal colony. A memory that adds a human and historical dimension to these walls, which still punctuate the Provençal landscape today and characterize the Bandol appellation. In the history books, Captain Bonaparte, the future Napoleon I, took the road linking Le Beausset to Ollioules when he went to Toulon in 1793 to liberate the city.

Farmed and then forgotten, La Font des Pères was reborn in 2010 under the leadership of Caroline and Philippe Chauvin. For sixteen years, they developed the estate as true builders, giving it a strong identity and a broad wine tourism dimension.

In the summer of 2026, Jean Luc Codaccioni, a committed entrepreneur from Ollioules and Toulon, took over. For him, La Font des Pères was an obvious choice: an estate in the heart of the Bandol appellation, where the alliance of wine and gastronomy comes naturally. A direct echo of Auguste Académie, a specialist in culinary training, which shares the same vision of excellence and transmission. A new saga begins.

An exceptional estate in Bandol

The vineyard grew from 6 to 10 hectares, farmed organically, with grape varieties typical of the region, led by Mourvèdre. The cellar and winery were reborn. The first wines confirmed the boldness of the Chauvins and their team: under the cork, the vintages are elegant, structured and charming, as befits AOP Bandol, but above all beautifully fresh, in perfect harmony.

As wine calls for food, restaurants were added to the estate to taste Provence in proper style, with some of the fruit, vegetables, herbs, eggs and morels grown on site. Four villas complete the hotel experience with rooms, suites and apartments of great charm. Already entirely focused on this restorative authenticity, La Font des Pères went further with the creation of an outdoor/indoor spa.
